IGT Game King Video Poker Players Guide

This article provides an overview of Game King Video Poker, a popular game developed by IGT that was first released way back in the early 1980’s, it was like every bar in Las Vegas had a Game King terminal back in the day. Just the thing for wasting some time while having a few drinks.

With nine different varieties of video poker available in this game, players can enjoy the likes of Jacks or Better Poker, Deuces Wild Poker, Joker Poker and Bonus Poker plus more all from the one machine.

The game is dead easy to understand, with players dealt five cards and given the option to hold or discard them before being dealt new cards. The aim is to create the best poker hand possible, with a pay table outlining the rewards for each hand rank.

The RTP % is quite high on these games, you can get up to 98.91 RTP % on Deuces wild poker, so your going to get more play time on these games than most other casino gaming option. The house edge is quite small on these games so you’re a big part of the game and not just a spectator waiting to lose your money like on slot machines where the RTP% can be as low as 90%.

How to Play Game King Video Poker

Game King Video Poker offers nine different formats of video poker, each represented by a selector box on the game screen. Players can select their preferred game by clicking on the corresponding box to load the version.

Once a game is selected, players can set their bet by clicking the bet up button. The game starts with a default bet of 0.10 x 1 coin. The bet can be decreased by clicking the bet down button. The appropriate pay table is highlighted each time the bet is changed, players can easily determine their potential winnings for each hand played.

The game also offers a speed option with three settings, allowing players to choose the speed at which cards are dealt. The maximum setting of three is ideal for quick games but you will lose you credits much quicker also.

After each game, players can choose to return to the original game selection screen by clicking the “more games” option. With its user-friendly interface and multiple game options.

The Game King Video Poker Options

Game King Video Poker offers a range of nine different games for players to choose from. Each game has its own unique rules and payouts, providing players with a variety of options to suit their preferences.

The first game available is Jacks or Better / RTP 98.45%. This game is an old school classic version of video poker, where players need to have a poker hand that features a pair of jacks or better to win a payout. The payouts increase as players move through the hands, with the top prize of 800x their bet if they hit a Royal Flush. This is the one and only full pay video poker game in the Game King machine.
The second game and my favourite is Bonus Poker / RTP 98.01%. This game is based on the Jacks or Better format, but with a twist. In this game, there is a large premium when players hit four aces, and a smaller premium for four 2s, 3s or 4s. This is contrasted by smaller payouts for full houses and flushes wins.
The third game is Bonus Poker Deluxe / RTP 98.49%. This game is also based on the Jacks or Better format, but players get a payout boost every time they hit any 4 of a kind hand. The pay is increased to 80 coins in place of the standard 25. To contrast this, just two pairs offer the same stake back payout that players get for a pair of jacks, queens, kings or aces.
The fourth game is Double Bonus Poker / RTP 97.80%. In this game, there is even more of a premium for four aces, pushing the payout up to 160 coins, with further boosts for all of the four of a kind hand. The remainder of the pay table is adjusted to offset the larger pays for these premium winning hands.
The fifth game is Double Double Bonus Poker / RTP 97.87%. This game involves kickers, where if players hit four aces with a 2, 3, or 4 kickers, they will win 400 coins, with smaller boosts for other 4 of a kind/kicker combinations. The two pairs pay remains the same as that for a pair win.
The sixth game is Triple Double Bonus Poker / RTP 98.15%. In this game, the premium for a pair of aces with a 2, 3, or 4 kicker ensures that this hand pays as much as a royal flush (800 coins). Players will get smaller pays for two pairs and 3 of a kind, while any flush wins get a small boost.
The seventh game is Deuces Wild Poker / RTP 98.91%. In this version of video poker, every time players land a 2, it becomes a wild card. Big hands become that much easier to hit thank to the wild card. Players need to hit 3 of a kind to land any type of win here, with reduced pays for 4 of a kind. Please note, the 800-coin win for a Royal Flush is still in play, it’s reduced to 25 if there are 2’s involved and a premium when hitting 4 deuces.
The eighth game is Deuces Wild Bonus Poker / RTP 98.80%. This game is very similar to Deuces Wild apart from the fact that if players hit four twos with an ace kicker, the payout is doubled. To contrast this, the pay for a straight now matches for 3 of a kind suits.
The final and nineth game available on the menu is Joker Poker / RTP 98.08%. In this game, players are playing with a 53-card deck. With only a single wild aka. the joker, big hands are more likely than in Jacks or Better, but quite less likely than in Deuces Wild. Players just need Kings or Better in this game to start winning a few bucks.
