The big blind is played by the player two places to the left of the dealer. It is usually twice the amount of the small blind.

The ante is a set amount paid into a pot by players before the hand is dealt and the game begins. It encourages players to keep playing when they feel like they could fold. However, antes are not typically used when a blind is used. The round is completed once every player has bet an amount equal to the current wager, raised the wager or folded.
